Gamecouk Apologises for error

The Nintendo DSi has officially launched in Europe. However, Game.co.uk have had to apologise after they have made an error in an announcement that went to all of their subscribers. The announcement was the following:

Two touch screens
Two cameras
Built-in DSi web browser
Play download games
SD Memory Card
Plus loads more!

Notice anything wrong? Not yet….?

Hmm….lets look at point number 1 - Two touch screens. Wow, wouldnt that be awesome if it was the case. However it clearly is not…the Nintendo DSi only has 1 touch screen.

DSi Officially out in UK

The Nintendo DSi has officially launched in the UK. You can now purchase the DSi from any of the stores that were previously pre-selling it.

So what has changed now that the DSi is available? In terms of Prices, there have been a few changes:

Game.co.uk/dsi have increased thier price from £159.99 to £164.99 and
Gamestation.co.uk dsi have increased from £149.99 to £164.99

We have now updated our Nintendo DSi Prices list, to reflect these new prices.

So would should you do now…well go out and Order the Nintendo DSi from any of the retailers and get playing the hottest games console of 2009!

Weekly downloads at DSiWare

Nintendo have said that they will be adding new applications and games to the Nintendo DSi Shop (DSiWare Shop) on a weekly basis and making them available for download. This is excellent news. Imagine being able to add new games and apps to your Nintendo DSi every week.

This directly from Nintendo Press Release:

“Like the Wii Shop Channel, the Nintendo DSi Shop will offer a growing library of downloadable games, with new titles added every week. Accordingly, we’ll be using this space to tell you not only about new games for Wii but also for Nintendo DSi. Watch for the first edition of Nintendo Download on April 6.”

Although the Nintendo DSi has been positioned by Nintendo as having many different uses and functions, such as a PDA, wireless internet tablet etc., it is still basically at its heart a Games Console.

So what are some of the games you can expect for the Nintendo DSi.
Well, there will definitely be the popular ones such as Sonic and Mario, as well as Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training.

We will be writing reviews for all the games we find that have special versions adapted for the Nintendo DSi.

Looking to get the Nintendo DSi for Free? Well, the Nintendo DSi will be in short supply for quite some time so it is unlikely that you will see many people handing them out on the street for free. However if you are willing to think a little outside the box, then you could well get one a Free DSi.

Many mobile phone networks and resellers, like Dialafone, have bundle deals where they give you free gifts for signing a contract with them. Some if these gifts include Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360’s, PSP’s, Playstations, as well as Nintendo DS Lite’s. So it stands to reason that once stock hits the UK, that these companies will also be offering free DSi consoles.

It seems like every online retailer in the Uk is trying to get into the act of selling the Nintendo DSi, and why shouldnt they. From a consumer’s point of view, the more stores selling the DSi, the better it will be for us.

Play.com (www.play.com) are also selling the Nintendo DSi. They are offering it for the price of £149.99, and this comes with a free accessory pack.
The accessory pack contains: A black DSi case, USB car charger, USB data cable, Stylus x2, and a cleaning cloth. They have not said what this pack is valued at, but an educated guess would be around the £20 mark.

It looks like the pressure is increasing for stores selling the Nintendo DSi to get the best deal while there is still stock. Some stores are competing by offering the lowest basic price, others are offering free accessories, and others are offering to buy back your old DS Lite when you buy the Nintendo DSi.
Gamestation (gamestation.co.uk) has recently decided to do this and are currently offering to buy back your old DS Lite for £75 to spend instore or £50 cash.

This is an excellent deal and matches the game.co.uk/dsi deal.

Nintendo DSi App Store

Are Nintendo planning on competing with the Apple iTunes Store? As we all know Nintendo have released the DSiWare online store along with the Nintendo DSi. This is the place where you will be able to download and access new games from Nintendo.

There was apparently a very recent meeting with Nintendo and a few develops in London, where Nintendo made it clear that they are very keen for developers to develop their own games to be available for download. However, more vital than this, they also want the developers to get started developing new Applications for the Nintendo DSi. What types of applications? Well, that is anyone’s guess. But that is the whole point really, that hundreds, or thousands, of individuals can produce some remarkable ideas and concepts (just look at all the iphone apps) and Nintendo want the same to happen for the Nintendo DSi Console.

This can only be a good thing and shows that the Nintendo DSi is more than just a games console.
