One of the main pitches that the new dsi console will be making to differentiate itself from the dsi lite, is the fact it is all linked up to online content. What exactly does this mean?
Well, basically, using the dsi console, you will be able to connect to the dsi online shop, and purchase games, content and applications. The currency will be Nintendo Points (previously Wii Points). Customers will be given a certain number of points when they purchase the dsi console, and many applications and games will in fact be free to download.
The first software to be offered free of charge will be the DSi Browser. This is an Internet Browser co-developed between Opera and Nintendo.
The second software to be free will be Moving Notepad. With this, you can create hand-written memo’s on your dsi console, with cool features like ‘cut-off’ animations that can talk.
The DSIWare Points will be divided into a number of ’sections’. There will be DSiWare200 that you can purchase for 200 Points, DSIWare500 and DSIWarePremium, which you can purchase for 500 and 800 points respectively.
Each level represents the type and classification of applications you can purchase in that range.
