We have just heard that apparently a few retailers are being told that the black ds lite console has been discontinued. So, as soon as they complete their current stock, they will not be receiving any new black ds lites. Now, what could be the reason for this, as we are sure that the black ds was very popular.
One thought could be that, as Nintendo are planning on releasing the dsi console soon, they do not want any confusion. The Black Nintendo dsi will look very similar to the black ds lite, so this might confuse customers. It also represents the run off, of old stock in the lead up to a launch.
In other DSI news, in Japan console sales have plummeted to an all time low. In the first quarter of 2009, all gaming consoles are battling with sales. However, the DSI Console is still coming out on tops selling an awesome 50,000 consoles p/week. Here is a weekly breakdown:
- Nintendo DSi - 49,529
- PSP - 34,969
- Wii - 20,412
- PlayStation 3 - 16,082
- Nintendo DS Lite - 12,484
- Xbox 360 - 8,311
