Nintendo DSi Lite

We have recieved quite a few emails asking us why the Nintendo DSi is not called the Nintendo DSi Lite. Firstly, a little history.
Nintendo came out with the Nintendo DS in early 2004. This was a revolutionay dual touch-sensitive screen gaming console that really rocked the gaming world.
Then, in early 2006, Nintendo came out with the DS Lite - so called because it was basically just a slimmer and lighter version of the original DS.

Now, Nintendo have come out with the Nintendo DSi. They have not called it the Nintendo DSi Lite, as it is not a slimmed down version of a previous console. Instead it is a brand new upgrade with never before seen features. In the future, if they make it even smaller (while hopefully keeping the large screens, it might be called a Lite Version.

We have a page comparing the Nintendo DSi to the DS lite, that might make things even clearly.
